Moio della Civitella is a common site in the province of Salerno, in the suggestive National Park of the Cilento and Vallo of Diano, composed by two inhabited nucleuses: Moio and Pellare. It counts around two thousand inhabitants and alive of agricultural economy, distinguishing for a long time itself for the crop of the grapevine, of the olive trees and of the chestnut trees.Famous above all its wines that since the Middle Ages they have also been in demand out of Italy.
The origin of the two countries started to the inhabited (frurion) fortification of the Civitella that was one of the outposts of Velia: they are showing the ruins that can constitute precious testimonies of the civilization of Velia that pervaded this area beginning from the V sec. B.C.and what it continued then with the presence of the Romans from the II sec. B.C. The ruins of the Civitella like other recoveries, as ancient legends, testify also the vivacity of this civilization that then, from the Middle Ages, been expressed in a dignified "country civilization", whose moral and material inheritance can be seen walking on the hills that surround these places and walking among the small ancient suburbs that constitute the pulsating heartof these two centres, Moio and Pellare, perfect showcase of the uses and the customs of the inside of the Cilento.
